Fostering students’ creative thinking through Equitable Dialogic Game-Based Learning: An Action Research of an Elementary School in Kaohsiung City

What is this research about?

The study aims to address the issues identified by the researcher in the educational setting through action research. It investigates whether employing the Equal Conversation-based Educational Play (ICEP) framework significantly enhances students' creative thinking abilities and evaluates the potential positive impact of board games on implementing equal conversation-based teaching.
The researcher, who is also a teacher, conducts the study by implementing equal conversation-based game teaching in a fifth-grade curriculum at an elementary school. Before and after a series of instructional activities, pretests and posttests of creative thinking are conducted using PISA 2022-style questions to analyze whether the results are significant. Additionally, through the researcher's reflection and interviews with participating students, the effectiveness of board games in addressing students' fear of speaking up and fostering equal dialogue is examined.
